Auction of Bruce Davidson Photographs to Benefit Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency

Bruce Davidson is, arguably, America's greatest living photographer. In the 1950s and '60s, he freelanced for magazines such as LIFE and Esquire, creating distinguished bodies of work such as Brooklyn Gang and Time of Change. Davidson also found time to shoot in Europe, creating an extraordinary visual chronicle of British postwar society in his series England and Scotland and Wales. From the 1970s onwards, Davidson continued to photograph New York City, producing compelling bodies of work such as Garden Cafeteria and Subway. Our October 21 Photographs by Bruce Davidson auction, which benefits the Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency, includes examples from all of these extraordinary photo essays.

Exquisite Tiffany Studios Lamps Lead Early 20^th Century Design Auction

Our October 22 Early 20th Century Design Signature^® Auction offers a stellar lineup of Tiffany Studios lamps, all fresh to market from private collections. This early Peony table lamp, circa 1905, leads the charge with its shade in delicate greens and pinks and its matched sculpted bronze base. Other gems include a Peacock table lamp and Poppy table lamp, both circa 1910. The auction also offers more than 60 pieces from the Collection of Rex Rush, including this exquisite René Lalique Antilopes vase, circa 1925, and a René Lalique Ormeaux vase, circa 1926. Among the Art Deco and Art Nouveau sculpture highlights is Demetre Chiparus' charming Belly Dancer in cold-painted bronze.

Modern Design Auction Spotlights Iconic Works by Ackerman, Friedeberg, Nakashima and More

Among the highlights in our October 23 Modern Design Signature^® Auction are signature works by Evelyn Ackerman, Pedro Friedeberg, Albert Paley, Jun Kaneko and George Nakashima. Last year Heritage broke the auction record for a work by Ackerman, and this auction offers another excellent work by the artist: Pennants Mosaic, Model 605-5C. It's joined by a pair of iconic Hand Chairs by Friedeberg and nine works by midcentury favorite George Nakashima, including his elegant Double Sliding Door Cabinet. The auction also boasts strong offerings in studio glass by luminaries such as Lino Tagliapietra and Stephen Powell, including Tagliapietra's Dinosaur and an untitled Powell work in fused and blown murrine glass.

Our October 30 Urban Art Signature^® Auction presents a strong showing of blue-chip contemporary and urban artists, including Banksy, RETNA, KAWS and more. Among the standout Banksy lots is the 2009 screenprint Donuts (Strawberry) and 2006's Applause, a screenprint on wove paper from an edition of 150.
