When Juhani “Jussi” Hyökyvaara founded Halti in 1976, he set out to make gear that wouldn’t just be tested in a laboratory environment, but in real, challenging conditions outdoors.
That same mindset still guides us today. We design everything by listening to professional athletes, adventurers, and active outdoor enthusiasts. Then we test: in laboratories, in different sports, in heavy use, and in varying weather conditions. We learn. We improve. And then we repeat the process all over again.
And now, we’re opening our entire testing process for everyone to see. On the Halti Test Lab site, you can explore what we test, where, when, and by whom.
