NOTES ON Côte d’Azur, 1968, Roger BezombesPrinted in 1972 by the masters at Atelier Mourlot, this original lithograph features Roger Bezombes’ bold and colourful artwork. A regular traveller, in 1951 while on a working trip in Greece, Bezombes was introduced to the art of tapestry for the first time – captivated by its many possibilities, it became one of his main mediums. In this collaborative piece between the artist and the master lithographers at Atelier Mourlot, Bezombes’ artwork features a bright red abstract fish – its fin bearing the colours of the French flag – set against blue. Composed of various pattern-filled shapes, it is reminiscent of a patchwork quilt.
