My dad kept a torch in the glove box for as long as I can remember.
Same one. Scratched up, dented, batteries held in with tape. But every time we needed it, at the roadside, under the car, walking back to the chalet in the dark, it worked.
He didn't care what brand it was. He cared that it showed up when he needed it to.
