Tim Conover book update,

Josh Throws first pitch for Pittsburgh Pirates
&
we discuss debuting new material

In what is one of the most anticipated book releases in magic in a very long time, we have an update on the status of the Tim Conover book projects.

A little background: Tim Conover was one of the most respected, skilled, and elusive talents in magic and mentalism: he had monster chops and also tremendous real-world performing credentials. He passed away in 2011 and since that time, his friend Eric Mead (alongside Tim’s sister, Shari) have been working on a book project on Tim’s life’s work.

We’re thrilled to be a part of bringing Tim’s work to the magic community. The updates we can give you are these:

• We’re on track to release the project for the holidays in 2025.

• It’s not one book…or two books…but three books. It will encompass his very best mentalism, card magic, coin magic, and more.
•
There will be a very special deluxe edition available. Stay tuned for more.

Joshua Jay to Throw out Magic-Trick First Pitch for Pittsburgh Pirates!

Our very own Joshua Jay is throwing out the prestigious first pitch at a Pittsburgh Pirates game May 21st, in PNC Park, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful stadiums in major league baseball. From Josh:

“Last year I was asked by the Chicago Cubs to design a magic trick to throw out the first pitch. I developed a kind of baseball card stab, in which a chosen card is impaled in a baseball in midair on its way to home plate. I got to replicate the feat for the Cleveland Guardians, and this Tuesday, I’ll bring it to the Pittsburgh Pirates. For someone used to performing for 50, 100, 500 people…performing in a stadium that holds 38,000 people is quite a rush.”

Joshua is in Pittsburgh for the month performing his brand new show, Making Magic.

The Very Best Products for Beginners?

Jason Carroll writes to us this week asking for tricks that would be good for beginners. And you know what? It’s a great question, especially since a great “beginner” trick is really just a great trick that isn’t technically demanding. They’re great for everyone.

For someone with no experience in magic (or a great gift for someone getting into the craft), we wrote a book called The Ultimate Guide to Magic, which is, as the title suggests, what we feel is the perfect beginner book. Every trick in the book is something we use, and it builds basic skills that will allow you to seamlessly progress to other material.

We also have three names for you to follow: Jay Sankey, David Regal, and John Guastaferro. These guys create powerful magic that doesn’t rely on technical skills. The toolbox required to perform their material is simple and achievable, but the quality of their work is truly top notch. Here are some of our favorites:

• The Definitive Sankey

• The David Regal Masterclass
•
The John Guastaferro Bundle

Andi and Josh discuss debuting new material…

In our video this week, we discuss (among other things) how to debut new material for a show. Click here to watch the video.

And as usual, if you have any questions for us, we’d love to hear them here.
