We are now presenting a selection of rare pieces from the beautiful and world-renowned Flora Danica service by Royal Copenhagen – including an ice dome, a lidded vase, a fruit basket, and a soup tureen.

The service dates back to the late 18th century, and its motifs are based on the Enlightenment-era book work of the same name. Commissioned by King Frederik V, botanist G.C. Oeder was tasked with documenting the flora and fauna of the Danish realm. The project ultimately spanned 122 years and resulted in a reference work comprising 3,240 copper engravings, which continue to serve as the basis for the hand-painted Flora Danica service today.
