Being Aware of Scams.

Oh my word y’all… do I have a story. 😳 We are actually moving back to our country property outside of Dallas. It feels so strange to even type that because just a couple of weeks ago we thought we were officially done. We were literally about to close… we had already moved all our personal stuff out, the utilities had been transferred into the buyers’ names, everything was ready to go.

Here’s what went down…

On the day of closing, our realtor called with news that still makes my stomach drop. The buyers had wired ALL their money… closing costs and their large down payment (we’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars) to a SCAM account. 😭 These wire fraud scams are wild because they look so legit. The buyers thought they were following all the right steps, but they ended up getting tricked by fake wire instructions that sent their money straight into a fraud account.

At first the bank told them the funds were frozen and would be returned, so we all thought it was safe. But then we found out the money had already been dispersed into a fraud account overseas. Just like that, it was gone. 💔 I can’t even begin to imagine the devastation. Their hard-earned savings, their dream of this home, wiped out in an instant. My heart just breaks for them. 😢

I’m sharing this as a HUGE reminder: these scams are everywhere. Always double-check the email address. Scammers use sneaky addresses that look almost identical to the real ones (like one letter off). And always call your title company directly before wiring money. Don’t rely only on emailed instructions. Pick up the phone and call the title company or escrow office using the number on their official website. Protect yourself, this can happen to anyone.

A Cheesy Movie When Life Feels Heavy.

The new Netflix movie The Wrong Paris is a super cheesy rom-com where contestants think they’re heading to Paris, France… only to find out they’re actually in Paris, Texas.  🤠

Here’s the kicker: I was actually in Paris, Texas this summer (so random, right?) when I was headed to a lake in Arkansas. I stopped at Walmart there and let me tell you, it looks NOTHING like the “Paris, Texas” in the movie. Turns out, the movie wasn’t even filmed in Texas. Nope, it was filmed in Vancouver, Canada. LIKE WHAT?! 😅

So yeah, people might start booking trips to Paris, Texas thinking they’re getting sweeping farms, rolling hills, and those gorgeous color-changing trees. Not happening.

As for the movie itself, if you’re looking for something super light and don’t mind double Hallmark level cheesy, you might actually like it. I still watched the whole thing, secondhand embarrassment and all. 🙈😂

Spooky-Cute Glass Tumblers.

You guys… you NEED these Halloween glass tumblers in your life 👻☕️They’re under $4 on Walmart.com and come with a lid and straw. Basically they’re going to save you money because you’ll skip the overpriced coffee runs and make your iced coffee at home instead. 🙌 And they’re cute enough to make every sip feel festive. 🎃

Announcing You’re Unfollowing Someone.

Y’all, can we talk about this? Why do people feel the need to send a message just to say they’re unfollowing and why they think you’re the worst? 🤔 Like… imagine showing up at someone’s front door just to announce, “Hey, I’m not your friend anymore.” Who does that?! 😂

Here’s the deal 👉 if following someone doesn’t bring you joy, unfollow. No hard feelings. We all do it. I’ve gone through my own feed and unfollowed accounts that make me feel blah or drained. Totally normal.

But here’s what’s not needed… the goodbye speech. 🙅‍♀️ You don’t need to knock on someone’s virtual door to explain why you’re leaving. Just quietly move along. So if an account isn’t your vibe, that’s okay. Truly. Just hit unfollow and carry on.
