About the Author

Joseph O'Connor was born in Dublin. He is the author of 20 books, among them the million-selling Star of the Sea and the previous books of his Rome Escape Line trilogy My Father’s House and The Ghosts of Rome, the latter of which won the overall An Post Irish Book of the Year Award 2025. In 2012, he received the Irish PEN Award for Outstanding Contribution to Literature and in 2014 was appointed Frank McCourt Professor and Chair of Creative Writing at the University of Limerick. His fiction has been translated into forty languages.
