Have A Knives Day

With Ben Petersen

This Have a Knives Day newsletter is all about Ben Petersen! Five years ago, in January 2020, he introduced the Banter—a pocket knife that laid the foundation for the iconic Banter series. Now, in 2025, he is celebrating this milestone with the launch of the WE Knife Bougie Banter in honour of five years of Banter.

WE Knife Bougie Banter

A tribute to 5 years of the Banter!

The Bougie Banter is a pocket knife with a story. Ben Petersen drew inspiration from his roots in Ogden, Utah. The iconic Art Deco style of the city, with influences from the roaring twenties, is reflected in every detail. Think of the refined micromilling on the titanium handle, the chevron backspacer and the stylized pocket clip. The chevron details on the backspacer are not only beautiful but also symbolic: they represent each of the 31 previous Banter models. The design draws from Ben’s original Banter sketch, now featuring an upgraded crossbar lock and high-quality CPM S45VN steel.

Knafs Lander 4

The first fixed blade of the Lander series

During the design process, Ben asked himself one important question: ‘What’s missing from the Lander series?’ The answer was clear: a compact, fixed-blade EDC knife that’s easy to carry. After countless cardboard prototypes, he created the perfect design: a 3.5-finger grip with an ideal balance between the blade and handle. And thus, the Lander 4 was born! For added control and grip, a brass booster bead has been included, inspired by the Rocketdyne F-1 rocket engine that propelled the Saturn V to space. The Lander 4 Black Sheep is now in stock, and we hope to have the Moondust Micarta version available again soon!

Knafs Lander 2 and 3

With clip-point blade and paper micarta

The Lander 2 and 3 now come in two striking versions with a shared, unique twist. The classic drop-point blade shapes have been replaced by a clip-point. This blade style is most commonly seen on hunting knives. What truly sets these knives apart are the paper-micarta handles. Instead of the usual fabric, this micarta is made from paper, which is rare and gives these knives a distinctive appearance.
