Sometimes in life, your path crosses with someone else’s—and everything changes.
For me, that moment came 34 years ago when I met one of my dearest friends, Yolandi.

Friendship isn’t always measured by how long you’ve known someone, but by the depth of connection you share—whether it spans a week, a year, or a lifetime.

My story began in Grade 3, when a lively little girl sat down next to me in class and started chatting as if we’d known each other forever. From that moment, I knew two things:

  1. She was definitely a little crazy.

  2. And she was going to make life a lot more fun.

What followed was a friendship best described as a roller coaster—full of adventure, laughter, drama, and unwavering loyalty. From the playgrounds of primary school to high school hallways, from our days together in the UK, and later through marriage, motherhood, and milestones, our bond only deepened.

One of our earliest dreams? To see Elton John live in concert.
As young girls, we didn’t have the means—but we held onto that dream for two decades.

And finally, we did it....

We flew back to the place where that dream was born—The Crown Inn in Chiddingfold, Surrey—and made time to reconnect with old friends and walk memory lane with grateful hearts.

The highlight of it all? Witnessing Elton John’s final live concert before retirement.
It was one of the pinnacle moments of my life—made unforgettable because I shared it with someone who has walked beside me for over three decades. We wore Pink shirts with one of his most famous lines:

Live for each second without hesitation!

💜 Take a moment to think about your “Yolandi.”

It’s easy - she’s the one who brings out the best in you.
The one who fills your cup, lifts your spirit, and never judges.
She’s your safe place, your laugh-till-you-cry companion,
and the very first person you call when your heart is breaking.

We all need a Yolandi — and if you have one, hold her close.
She’s rare. She’s real. She’s home.
