The one thing pen-thru-bill shouldn't be able to do
Sometimes, one little change can make all the difference. Take the classic pen-thru-bill. At this point, you probably know how it's done. Half of your audiences probably know how it's done for that matter. You also probably know why almost every version of this effect uses a pen with a cap...
Bizarro and Danny Weiser put their heads together and came out with a version that uses a retractable ballpoint pen: Write-Thru!
The plot is identical to almost any other pen-thru. A bill is borrowed from the audience. You take a pen and, in one swift motion, stab it through the center of of the note. Before you remove the pen, showing the bill completely unharmed, you do one innocent movement.
You click the pen. The nib comes out. You might even write for a second. But then you click again, and the pen retracts.
You carry on with your routine. The pen is indeed removed, and the bill is definitely unharmed. But your spectator will keep coming back to that click. It will always be a little mystery to them.
Write Thru is available at any Murphy's Magic dealer, or you can check out with our featured dealer, J&B Magic!
